Root, a new vegan café, opened this week on Frederick Douglass Boulevard in Harlem. The café offers plant-based breakfasts, sandwiches, and smoothies with a focus on whole foods.
Owner and chef Jasmine Harris aims to provide healthier dining options in a neighborhood with limited vegan choices. “I want Root to be a community spot where people can enjoy fresh and simple food,” Harris said.
Prices range from $6 to $15. Root is open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
