Chef Jean-Paul Lefevre has left his position at Le Petit Café on the Upper East Side to helm a new restaurant in Chelsea. The forthcoming venue, named Atelier 27, will focus on French-inspired seasonal tasting menus paired with natural wines. Lefevre announced the move will allow him to explore more experimental culinary techniques and intimate dining formats.

Atelier 27 is slated to open in late summer in a former gallery space on West 27th Street. Lefevre is collaborating with sommelier Maria Torres to curate the wine list. The team aims to offer a refined yet approachable experience distinct from his previous casual bistro setting.

Industry insiders note that Lefevre’s departure marks a shift in his career toward more avant-garde culinary projects. He thanked Le Petit Café staff and customers in a farewell statement.
