Sofia Ramirez has been appointed executive chef at The Belfry, a gastropub in the <a href="https://nycrestaurantvoice.com/east-villages-bar-epoque-closes-after-eight-years-20260418071518/">East Village</a>. Ramirez, previously at The Ninth Wave in <a href="https://nycrestaurantvoice.com/menu-overhaul-at-brooklyns-the-green-fork-20260418071519/">Brooklyn</a>, takes over from founding chef Daniel Kim. The Belfry <a href="https://nycrestaurantvoice.com/nj-transit-plans-expensive-train-tickets-and-reduced-service-for-2026-world-cup--20260418014058/">plans</a> to refresh its menu under Ramirez’s direction, incorporating seasonal ingredients and modern techniques.
Ramirez’s background includes work at several Michelin-starred kitchens. The Belfry’s owners hope the new leadership will attract a broader clientele while maintaining its casual pub atmosphere. Menu changes are expected to roll out in early May.
