Bodega Azul, a Mexican restaurant in the East Village, announced the hiring of Chef Lina Martinez as its new executive chef. Martinez previously worked at Oaxaca Kitchen and brings eight years’ experience specializing in Oaxacan cuisine.

She plans to introduce new menu items that highlight traditional mezcal pairings and regional dishes. The restaurant’s management expects the updated offerings to debut in early May.

Martinez replaces founding chef Carlos Rivera, who left to pursue other projects. Bodega Azul has maintained a steady presence in the neighborhood since opening in 2016.
